Photographer based in Philadelphia, PA
I document and preserve the once-in-a lifetime moments as they unfold at your wedding and capture the natural beauty and emotion in order to tell the story of your wedding day. I strive to be unobtrusive, and record real moments as they happen. I create a wonderful experience for you, before, during and after. My goal is to meet and exceed your expectations. I don’t follow trends, I create them.
I’m a husband, father, uncle, friend, artist, photographer, cook, speaker, musician, handyman, teacher and all-around nice guy. I’m passionate about my family and my work. I love being creative and working with my hands, as well as with my mind. With more than 30 years of experience, I have photographed various celebrities and my photos have appeared in numerous fashion, lifestyle and bridal magazine. From an early age I was fascinated with taking pictures. This prompted my mother to buy me my very first real camera at the age of seven. I haven't put a camera down since. Aside from this moment, I may never have become a professional photographer if it weren't for other special events that occurred later in my life:
I was selected as the drummer boy in the movie TAPS. This role gave me the opportunity to meet and photograph some of Hollywood's most talented stars: George C. Scott, Tom Cruise, Timothy Hutton and Sean Penn. Award-winning cinematographer, Owen Roizman, A.S.C., showed interest in my candids during the many months of shooting the film. Remarking that I had "a nice eye" and that the photographs showed "great composition," Owen urged me to seriously consider pursuing photography as a profession. After the production of TAPS, I graduated from Cinnaminson High School and was offered a performing arts scholarship to study percussion; however, I fell in love with the thrill of capturing the moment and being behind-the-scenes, so I refused it. Inspired by Roizman's comments, I decided to take a leap of faith and pursue photography.
I enrolled in the prestigious Antonelli Institute of Art and Photography in Philadelphia. At eighteen years old, I photographed my first wedding at a Cinnaminson park for my current girlfriend's sister. The pictures were in focus! In my young years, I began as an assistant photographer shooting Acme food advertisements (making $3 per hour), shooting New Jersey Elementary and High School portraits, and freelancing with wedding studios to stay busy on the weekends. I graduated from Antonelli as one of the top students in my class with an Associate Degree in Specialized Technology and an ambition to form my identity as a photographer.
I discovered that my forte is “the wedding.” This granted me the position as the exclusive photographer for Philadelphia Weddings along with a group of elite stylists and makeup artists, who Kate Frey, the publisher at the time, assembled. My creative eye attributed to the highly successful magazine, which brought fashion and couture to the bridal market. The magazine was later purchased by the prestigious Conde Nast ( Brides Magazine ).
Through this experience I developed many relationships in the wedding industry -- not just in the Philadelphia-area, but all over the nation. I researched and participated in many seminars to learn the trends of wedding photography, and from this, I was able to hone my own style. Wedding photography requires more than beautiful images; it requires images that portray the journey of the wedding day in a documentary, fashion-forward style. This unique style that I possessed was in demand. I broke the old school trends of wedding photography because I anticipated the moment and then captured it. When it came to the wedding formals, I applied my commercial and fashion background to create naturally posed photographs where everyone is comfortable.
After experiencing many years of success as a wedding photographer, my wife was thumbing through Philadelphia Magazine, called me on the phone and was the first tell me that I was awarded "Best of Philly: Best Wedding Photographer." Achieving this award was an amazing feeling and I viewed it as an achievement for the entire industry because photographers gained honorable recognition.
Today, there are a lot more wedding photographers then there has ever been, but it all comes down to personality, style and experience. I view all of my wedding opportunities as a chance to capture a once-in-a-lifetime memory. As your photographer, I will guide you through your wedding day and will use my unobtrusive style to ensure your satisfaction in every way. I'm a perfectionist who takes great pride in every job. After all, it will be my photographs of your special wedding that will be passed down from generation to generation.
